Our story

One oven, twelve tables, zero shortcuts

Ember & Vine is a wood-fired seasonal bistro at 214 Alder Street in Portland, Oregon — a market-driven menu, natural wines and twelve tables around one oven, open since 2019.

Ember & Vine opened in 2019 around a single wood-fired oven. Chef Maya Lindqvist writes the menu each morning after the market run: what arrives decides what is served. The wine list leans natural and low-intervention, chosen to sit beside smoke and char rather than compete with it.

We hold half the room for walk-ins and release the rest online. For groups of six or more, call us directly and we will set the long table by the oven.

Walk-ins, dietary needs, groups and getting here — the short answers.

Do you take walk-ins?
Yes — half the room is always held for walk-ins. At peak times (Friday and Saturday evenings) there may be a short wait; we will take your number and text you when your table is ready.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies?
Most dishes can be adapted, and vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items are marked on the menu. Tell us about allergies when you book or when you arrive — the kitchen takes them seriously and will talk you through safe choices.
Can you host groups or private events?
For groups of six or more, call us and we will set the long table by the oven. The full room seats up to 40 for private events, with a set menu built around the season — email us for dates and pricing.
Where can I park, and are you close to public transport?
We are two minutes on foot from the riverside tram stop. Street parking on Alder Street is free after 19:00, and there is a public garage one block north on 9th.
Are children and dogs welcome?
Children are welcome anytime and we keep high chairs and a small kids' menu. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the terrace.
