Our story

One oven, twelve tables, zero shortcuts

Ember & Vine is a wood-fired seasonal bistro at 214 Alder Street in Portland, Oregon — a market-driven menu, natural wines and twelve tables around one oven, open since 2019.

Dining room and wood-fired oven

The kitchen

Chef Maya Lindqvist cooked in Copenhagen and Lyon before coming home to open Ember & Vine. Her rule is simple: the market writes the menu, the oven finishes it. Expect char, acidity and vegetables treated with the same respect as the proteins.

Producers we know by name

Trout from the lake co-op, flour from a single mill, vegetables from three farms within an hour of the city. We list our producers on the menu because they are half the work.

The room

Twelve tables, an open kitchen and the long communal table by the oven. Loud enough to feel alive, quiet enough to talk. Walk-ins always have a place at the counter.
